LBA ANTENNA SYSTEMS BOOST AM QUALITY AND STATION PROFITABILITY

The amazing reach of radio begins when electronic waves are transmitted from one antenna to another. For 47 years, LBA Technology has been at this critical junction, constantly improving the quality of broadcasters’ transmissions while preserving their bottom line.

LBA Group companies got their start in AM radio over 40 years ago. In the decades since, hundreds of AM broadcast facilities in the United States and around the world have benefited from the company’s expert consultants, custom fabricated antenna systems and turnkey installations. Projects have ranged in size from kilowatts to megawatts, from modest maritime communication units to super power medium-wave systems in copper-lined buildings.

Many projects have enabled broadcasters to grow the value of their real estate, to add revenue or consolidate market operations. For example, LBA diplexers and triplexers integrate multiple AM broadcast stations, letting them transmit several different frequencies from one directional or non-directional antenna.

LBA’s international high power installations operate reliably year after year on the strength of custom tuning units fabricated by LBA Technology. As with lower power units, these are engineered for dependable and efficient performance across a broad bandwidth, while withstanding extreme operating stresses in difficult environments.

LBA Technology also provides innovative solutions for military and emergency applications. The TUP-series of mobile AM antenna systems support military and disaster communications; the TGR-50 portable antenna is quickly shipped and set up in the field. Its field-ready antennas have served with military forces in places as diverse as Bosnia and Afghanistan.

In a one-size-fits-all world, it is notable that LBA Technology antenna systems are custom units. That is, the systems are built in close consultation with broadcast customers and to their exact requirements. Few of the systems are off-the-rack, generic solutions. They are individually engineered responses drawn from LBA’s decades of experience in the industry.

That breadth of experience also lets LBA Technology upgrade existing antenna systems when replacement isn’t necessary. In such instances, next-generation equipment is seamlessly incorporated into an existing system, with critical components pulled from its own product lines or from LBA’s superior line-up of vendors.

Numerous AM station owners have financially benefited from LBA’s antenna colocation systems. These services include installation of proprietary CoLoSite® systems. The systems turn AM towers into platforms for wireless carrier antennas,  producing a whole new source of revenue for station owners without jeopardizing their AM transmissions.

Colocation is just one way LBA engineers are experts in enhancing the value of AM station assets. They also can combine two or more AM stations on a single tower, freeing land for new uses. LBA’s alternative antenna ground systems have the potential to permit multiple use of station acreage.

The breadth of LBA solutions can be seen on the Web in the LBA Technology Index. For decades now, AM broadcasters worldwide have come to depend on LBA Technology. The company is working hard to ensure that AM broadcasters “Excel in the Digital World.”
